Milton Smith reported to the Quorum Court Monday night on the progress being made with the NEA Intermodal Authority.

Establishing the authority is a long-term project that is designed to attract industry to Lawrence and Randolph County areas by utilizing the railroad, airport and highways.

Fair begins Tuesday

The 85th annual Lawrence County Fair will begin Tuesday and continue through Aug. 22.

Duncan to be write-in candidate

Danny Duncan of Walnut Ridge has filed as a write-in candidate for a Walnut Ridge position on the Lawrence County School Board, according to County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Spurlock is faithful to jail ministry

Each Wednesday afternoon, Lowell Spurlock stops by the office of The Times Dispatch, gets the latest edition and takes it, along with other reading material, to those incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail.

Walton named Sloan-Hendrix superintendent

The Sloan-Hendrix School Board met in special session on Thursday night and hired Mitch Walton, who just completed his 25th year at the school, as the new superintendent. continued...
