Staff Writer A new half-mile addition to the walking trail at Stewart Park in Walnut Ridge was recently completed. The addition was paid for with a $62,000 grant from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. On Friday, Walnut Ridge Mayor Michelle Rogers, Alderman Johnnie Fears and Park Supervisor Charles Spargo met with David Burnette, Entergy service manager, to discuss lighting the city would like to place along the new y-shaped addition. "We're working with Entergy so see about installing the lights," Mayor Rogers said. "They will have someone look at the trail and see if we may need to remove some trees, and then they will give us an idea of what we need to do and an estimate of the cost." The city may also need to do some trenching before the lights can be installed. "We hope everyone will use and enjoy the new section of our walking trail," Rogers said.
