Breaking NewsBreaking News: If you visit www.td.com from time to time you are likely to see this heading. While our website is updated each week, there are often noteworthy stories that we post throughout the week. Our website also features a section on the left-hand column called "Daily News." In this section, we post abbreviated obituaries of deaths that have occurred since our last print edition, and we have a scoreboard for game scores when area school sports teams are in action. At the recent Arkansas Press Association, speakers talked about keeping newspapers relevant and up-to-date in the age of instant and electronic communications. Updating websites with daily information is one way, and other newspapers are also connecting to their readers through Facebook, Twitter and by mobile phone.
While we have not tried the later suggestions, we do realize that our readers want news of big events or deaths, as soon as possible, and not a week later.
