POWERFUL WINDS BRING MUCH NEEDED RAIN ~ A storm system that blew through the area around midnight Saturday brought much-needed rains to Lawrence County. Totals varied greatly from over one inch to over three inches. Winds caused some minor damage and were strong enough to blow this grain bin across County Road 414 in Walnut Ridge into the middle of a field. The bin, no longer in use, belongs to Billy Ray James of Pocahontas. Located further beyond the field is the Williams Baptist College baseball field. Paige VanBrook of the Lawrence County Communications Center said there were no reports of any major damage.
