Lawhon named to
Top 10 at MAOT

ShayLee Lawhon of Walnut Ridge, the reigning Miss Northeast Arkansas Outstanding Teen, was named to the top 10 in the Miss Arkansas Oustanding Teen Pageant in Hot Springs Saturday.

Lawhon, 17, gave an inspiring vocal performance of "Defying Gravity" from the Broadway musical "Wicked." She is the daughter of Gary and Janet Lawhon of Walnut Ridge.

Her critical issue is Suitcases for Kids, which provides luggage to children in foster care. Her Diamond State Princess was Piper Stallings of Jonesboro.

Directors for the Northeast Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant are Eva Lee Graves and Nancy Goodman of Blytheville. They are also directors for the Lights of the Delta Pageant, which Lawhon won last year. This year's Lights of the Delta's Outstanding Teen, Daley Johnston, was also named to the top 10.

Ashley Roacho of Walnut Ridge, Miss Heartland of the South's Outstanding Teen, also competed at the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant.

She gave a crowd-pleasing tap performance to "Blue Suede Shoes." She is the 15-year-old daughter of Marvin and Laura Cook of Walnut Ridge and Richard Roacho of Blythe, Calif.

Her Diamond State Princess was Sarah Camille Cathey of Wynne, and her critical issue is Dealing with Divorce: Building Successful Step-families. The director of the Miss Heartland of the South's Outstanding Teen Pageant is Mike Miller of Paragould.
