Accident claims one life
An automobile accident on Saturday evening resulted in the death of a Hoxie man, according to Trooper Anthony Dial of the Arkansas State Police.
Jerry Lee Hutton, 40, of Hoxie, was killed when the 1992 Oldsmobile he was a passenger in failed to negotiate a curve on County Road 414 in Walnut Ridge, left the roadway and struck a 2009 Dodge pickup truck that was parked in a field.
The Oldsmobile, driven by Clyde E. Galbreath, 43, of Walnut Ridge, was traveling northbound when it left the roadway at approximately 5:38 p.m. Galbreath was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and Vertis Lomax, 41, of Walnut Ridge, another passenger in the Oldsmobile, was airlifted to The Med in Memphis.
Hutton was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Chris Warden.
According to Jody Dotson of the LCSD, Galbreath was placed under arrest upon release from the hospital. He was charged with negligent homicide, DWI II and reckless driving. At a bond hearing on Monday, he was released on his own recognizance and a court date of July 24 was issued.
