Tim Scott gives update on
NEA Intermodal Authority
Tim Scott, executive director of the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, gave an update Thursday on the Northeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority and efforts to establish a "super site." He was guest speaker at a meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Walnut Ridge.

An intermodal authority allows two or more counties and municipalities to join efforts to establish and operate an industrial site that will unite several methods of transportation to enhance and attract industry.
Judge issues decision
The Walnut Ridge Golf Club, Inc., Walnut Ridge Airport commissioners and the city of Walnut Ridge received a long-awaited decision from Circuit Court Judge Harold Erwin on Monday morning concerning the fate of the golf club.

School awarded stimulus funds
Schools in Lawrence County are prioritizing needs and planning how to use the approximately $4.4 million in federal stimulus money awarded to the county's four K-12 school districts.
Franks suffers injury in Iraq
U.S. Army Specialist 4th Class Jason Lee Franks, 24, the son of John and Mary Jo Franks of Walnut Ridge and John and Lora Murphy of Washington, was severely injured on May 25 while serving in Iraq. He was flown to Germany then to the National Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, where he underwent 12 hours of intensive surgery for head trauma on May 31.
