Staff Writer The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles' baseball season ended with a 15-4 loss to Greers Ferry West Side in the second round of the Class A State Tournament at Taylor.
Hillcrest defeated Poyen 5-3 in the first round of the state tournament on May 1 at Magnolia. Offensively for Hillcrest, Michael Spain batted 3-for-4 with an RBI. Marcus Huskey went 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Derek Wooten had two hits and scored two runs. Kyle Bristow had two hits, including a double, and Dylan Wooten had one hit. Derek Wooten earned the complete-game victory on the mound, allowing two earned runs on five hits and recording 14 strikeouts.
