Walnut Ridge was scheduled to play East Poinsett County in the finals of the tournament, which were rained out twice, causing seeding for the state tournament to be set with the flip of a coin.

Regional finals game
for Bobcats cancelled

Heavy rains forced the cancellation of the championship and consolation games of the 2A North Regional Baseball Tournament last week at Walnut Ridge, causing seeding for the State Tournament to be determined by coin tosses.
East Poinsett County won a coin toss with Walnut Ridge and advanced to the state tournament as the region's top seed. Marked Tree won its coin toss with Marmaduke to receive the region's third seed.

The host Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated Marmaduke 7-2 in the semifinals on April 27.
William Wilcoxson and Paul Rainwater each had two hits for the Bobcats.
Rainwater was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on four hits and recording eight strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Walnut Ridge opened the regional tournament with a hard-fought 6-4 win over Buffalo Island Central on April 25.
Paul Rainwater had three hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth inning, and three RBIs, for Walnut Ridge. Brandon Dawson had two hits and scored two runs, and Luke Holloway had two hits.
Dawson earned the complete-game victory, allowing five hits and striking out nine.
