The Hoxie City Council met in special session on April 30 to address three time-sensitive resolutions.
Resolution number 2009-350, which addressed identity theft was adopted. All municipalities must adopt an identity theft resolution.
The other two resolutions involved city business. Resolution number 2009-351 addresses the application to obtain assistance for extending the water and sewer system through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The council approved the resolution to apply for a grant in the sum of $238,939 and Mayor Donnie Roberts and City Recorder Katie Smith were authorized to take what action was necessary to apply for the grant funds.
Resolution 2009-352 addressed the need for an additional fire engine for the city. The city would seek a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for $30,000 to complete the purchase. The city has raised $98,000 in matching money that meets the requirement for the grant application.
Roberts and Smith were authorized to administer this project as well.
