Screamin' Eagles
are district champs

The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles defeated Mammoth Spring 4-0 on April 21 at Black Rock to capture the championship of the 1A-2 East District Baseball Tournament.

Derek Wooten pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing the Bears just two hits, while recording 13 strikeouts.

Offensively, Tyler Neeley had two hits and an RBI, and Jordan Hunter had one hit and an RBI for Hillcrest.

Bobcats are district champs

The Walnut Ridge High School baseball Bobcats won their district title with an 11-1 win over Midland at Cotter.

Hillcrest ladies are runners-up

Izard County Consolidated defeated Hillcrest 6-2 in the finals of the 1A-2 East District Softball Tournament on April 21 at Black Rock.

NFL's Terrence Metcalf visits WRHS

Walnut Ridge High School athletes had a special guest April 15, when they were visited by veteran offensive guard Terrence Metcalf, who has played seven seasons in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears. Metcalf, who is a Mississippi native, stressed to the student athletes to start developing good habits while in high school.

Hoxie Track members post wins

The seventh grade boys track team at Hoxie School placed first in recent meets held at Greene County Tech and Paragould.
