WR honor grads announced

Charles Lee, principal at Walnut Ridge High School, has announced the 2009 honor graduates.

Valedictorians are Hunter Moody, Natalea Foster, Brent Smith and Rachael Jackson.

Moody is the son of Eric and Beverly Moody of Walnut Ridge and Kelly Moody of Pocahontas. He plans to attend Arkansas State University.

Foster, who plans to seek a pre-medicine degree at Oklahoma Baptist University, is the daughter of Robert and Lea Andra Foster of Walnut Ridge.

Smith is the son of Greg and Pamela Smith of Walnut Ridge. He plans to attend ASU.

Jackson is the daughter of Steve and Paula Jackson of Walnut Ridge and plans to attend medical or veterinary school after earning a four-year degree.

This year's salutatorians are Ashley Harris and Amber Caldwell.

Harris, who plans to attend Williams Baptist College, is the daughter of Mark and Joan Harris of Walnut Ridge.

Caldwell is the daughter of Mitch and Keri Verkler of Black Rock. She plans to study chemistry in college and then attend pharmacy school.

Other honor graduates at WRHS include: Grant Smith, Nicholas Dail, Carrie Massey, Zach Mullen, Samantha Knight and Garrett Culbreath.

Smith is the son of Allen and Kim Smith of Walnut Ridge and plans to major in history.

Dail, who is the son of Ted and Cheryl Dail of Black Rock, plans to attend ASU and major in engineering.

Massey is the daughter of Cary and Raelyne Massey of Walnut Ridge. She plans to major in radio/television at ASU and minor in political science.

Mullen, who plans to major in pharmacy and minor in music, is the son of Pam Mullen of Walnut Ridge.

Knight is the daughter of Kerry and Melonie Knight of Bono. She plans to attend ASU to become a certified nurse anesthetist.

Culbreath, son of Bob and Michelle Culbreath of Walnut Ridge, plans to major in broadcast media with an emphasis in radio at Arkansas Tech University.

Walnut Ridge High School's graduation will be May 22 at 7 p.m. at Sharum Gymnasium. The class will hold its baccalaureate on May 17 at 8 p.m. at the Walnut Ridge Community Center.
