Hillcrest's Breanna Doyle earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Sun Senior Classic Sunday at Jonesboro. The Classic is an All-Star basketball contest between teams consisting of some of the top senior basketball players from around Northeast Arkansas.
"I was shocked. I was really excited. It is a big honor," said Doyle of her MVP award.
Doyle scored 20 points and had eight rebounds and four steals to help her White team to a 95-68 victory over the Blue team.
"It was a big honor to play in the game and to play with girls I'd played against. To actually get to play with them was really awesome," Doyle added.
Hillcrest girls basketball coach Shawn Rose was not surprised that Doyle excelled in the Classic.
"Breanna is the type of player that can easily adapt to any situation on the basketball court, but playing in a game like the one Sunday is perfect for her," said Rose. "She is naturally aggresive on the court and it got her into foul trouble in high school, but her style is more suited at an all-star game and at the college level."
