Blaine Middlecoff, a senior at Hoxie High School, will continue his football career at Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla. He signed his letter of intent on April 10 at Hoxie.

Hoxie head football coach Tom Sears said Middlecoff recorded 933 yards rushing, averaging 6.3 yards per carry this season. He recorded six rushing touchdowns, in addition to scoring two touchdowns on receptions.

On defense, Middlecoff had 96 tackles the last two years as an outside linebacker.

"Blaine stepped up and had a great senior year," Sears said. "He is a very versatile player. Blaine could either play safety, slot receiver or running back for Northwestern Oklahoma."

Middlecoff said nice people, good teachers and being part of a successful team have made his time at Hoxie enjoyable.

"My time at Hoxie has been great," he said. "My teachers and coaches have prepared me the best they could in order to go further into my life with success."

Sears expects good things from Middlecoff as he continues on the gridiron in college.

"Blaine will continue to fill out and develop when he is concentrating on one sport," he said. "He has been a pleasure to coach and will excel in college."

Middlecoff said he is excited about arriving at Northwestern Oklahoma State and preparing for the season, but he selected the college for other reasons, as well.

"Another reason, other than football, is that Northwestern has a 100 percent graduation rate, and I want to get a good job after college," he said. "I am looking forward to making new friends and graduating at Northwestern."
