Two local softball
teams end seasons

Two Lawrence County high school softball teams saw their seasons end last week with losses in their respective district tournaments.

2A-2 District

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats dropped a 2-0 decision to Cedar Ridge in the 2A-2 District Tournament on Friday at Salem.

Taylor Wagoner and Josie Wagoner each had singles for Walnut Ridge's only two hits of the game.

Alivia Hackworth pitched for the Lady Bobcats, allowing just two hits and striking out five.

Walnut Ridge concludes the season with a 10-13 record.

3A-3 North District

Brookland's Ginny Nelms pitched a no-hitter, as the Lady Bearcats defeated the Hoxie Lady Mustangs 11-0 in the first round of the 3A-3 North District Softball Tournament on Thursday at Harrisburg.
