Walk of Hope success despite rain
Despite rainy weather, more than 50 people walked to show their support for those in the community with cancer, as well as those who have been lost. Carolyn Fowler, co-president said, "Cancer does not stop for rain and neither will we!" Several Girl Scout Troops were in attendance to assist with balloons and open the walk with their creed and the Pledge of Allegiance. Brother Roger Brand led a prayer as the balloons of celebration and remembrance were released. The Walk of Hope committee thanks all who participated in support of the cause, as well as all who have donated to the walk this year. There are also other fund-raisers this year. There will be a fishing tournament on May 9 at Lake Charles State Park, the annual golf tournament on June 13 at the Walnut Ridge Country Club and the Fourth on the Ridge beauty pageant on June 27 at the Walnut Ridge Community Center. For more information on these events, or to make a donation to the Walk of Hope, call Fowler at 886-7602, Claudia Wheeless at 886-7464 or Diana Shelton at 886-2292. All donations may be mailed to 102 Hope Street, Hoxie, AR 72433.
