WR baseball team earns wins
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated conference foe Salem 15-7 in high school baseball Wednesday at Salem.
Logan Gaither led the Cats at the plate, going 3-for-5 and driving in two runs. Luke Holloway added three hits for Walnut Ridge, while Paul Rainwater, Rob Rainwater, Chris Dickson and Heath Kennedy had two hits apiece.
William Wilcoxson earned the pitching win, allowing seven runs on seven hits, while striking out five in six innings of work.
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats baseball team played two games at the Charlotte Playday on April 7 at Charlotte.
In their first game, the Bobcats hammered conference foe Cedar Ridge 19-8. Walnut Ridge jumped on the Timberwolves early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second.
Gaither had four hits for the Cats, including a home run, and two RBIs. Holloway had two hits and drove in four runs. Brandon Dawson, Curtis Jackson and Zach Carson collected two hits apiece.
Rob Rainwater earned the win on the mound, recording three strikeouts in four innings of work.
Walnut Ridge improved to 8-0 in 2A-2 conference play with the win.
Walnut Ridge defeated Bay 12-5 in their second contest at the Charlotte Playday on April 7.
The Bobcats scored five runs in the fourth inning to break open a close game.
Gaither had two hits and two RBIs. Paul Rainwater had two hits, including a home run. Dawson and Kennedy also registered two hits.
Dickson started on the mound and allowed five runs on six hits to earn the victory.
Walnut Ridge moved to 17-5 overall with the win.
The Bobcats kept their undefeated conference record intact with an 11-1 win over Midland on April 6.
Jackson earned the victory on the mound and also drove in two runs for the Bobcats.
Dickson had two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Holloway and Paul Rainwater each registered two hits.
