Anthony Pinkston, club president, presented the check. The Rotary Club of Lawrence County is well on its way to obtaining its charter. Anthony Pinkston, club president, announced at Tuesday's meeting that the charter papers had been filled out and were ready to submit to Rotary International. "Congratulations for your hard work," he told members. The club also completed its first community service project with a donation of $2,600 to The Children's Shelter. Pinkston explained that part of the money raised was given by Hays supermarket manager David Snyder, and the staff and customers of Hays. Snyder is a member of Rotary. continued... WR cleanup underway The city of Walnut Ridge's spring cleanup is underway, according to Street Department Superintendent Jim Poindexter. continued... Walk of Hope to be Saturday The sixth annual Lawrence County Walk of Hope will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. and will be held at Stewart Park. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and walkers are encouraged to meet at the pavilion where there will be a registration table to sign in. continued... Preliminary work begins on communication tower At Monday night's Quorum Court meeting, County Judge Alex Latham reported that preliminary work is underway on the construction of a new 330-foot communications tower. continued... ATOD Coalition sets town hall meetings Addressing the issue of underage drinking will be the topic of town hall meetings recently set by the ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs) Coalition of Lawrence County. continued...
