S-H, WR girls split games
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds and Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats split a high school softball doubleheader on March 30 at Imboden.
After playing three scoreless innings, Walnut Ridge took the lead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady Hounds got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the inning. Each team added a run in the sixth inning to set the final score, as Walnut Ridge
earned a 5-2 win.
For Walnut Ridge, Ashley Baker, Josie Wagoner, Amber Caldwell, Brittney Dobbs and Makenzie Britton each had singles.
Alivia Hackworth allowed six hits and recorded 10 strikeouts to earn the win.
Sloan-Hendrix came back to earn a 10-5 win in the nightcap.
Chelsea Broadway led the Lady Greyhounds' offense with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs. Catie Wilson had a double, two singles and an RBI. Chasity Collins had a double and two RBIs.
Amanda Holland had two hits and an RBI, and Paige Ratliff had a double and one RBI.
Courtney Ragsdale, Samantha Perrin and Danyail Dail each had singles.
Wilson earned the pitching win, allowing five hits and striking out six.
For Walnut Ridge, Hackworth, Taylor Wagoner, Dobbs and Whitney Ward each had a hit.
Hackworth took the loss, allowing 12 hits and recording 11 strikeouts.
