Bobcats have busy week

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats baseball team was in action last week prior to competing in the county tournament over the weekend.
Heber Springs
The Bobcats fell to Heber Springs 5-1 in the second round of the Pioneer Classic at Batesville on Wednesday. Luke Holloway had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, as the Bobcats' offense managed only three hits on the day.
Curtis Jackson took the loss on the mound, allowing two earned runs and recording seven strikeouts in six innings.
Cotter
Walnut Ridge exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning en route to an 11-4 win over Cotter on March 31.
William Wilcoxson led Walnut Ridge with two hits, including a bases-loaded triple, and four RBIs. Jackson had two hits and two RBIs. Holloway and Rob Rainwater also had two hits apiece.
Paul Rainwater earned the pitching win to run his record to 5-0 on the season. He allowed four runs on five hits, while recording 17 strikeouts.
Newport
Walnut Ridge shut out Newport 12-0 in the Pioneer Classic at Batesville on March 30.
The Bobcats struck early and often, scoring four times in the first inning and adding three runs in the second to take command of the contest. Walnut Ridge plated four runs in the fifth inning to end the game due to the 10-run rule.
Logan Gaither and Wilcoxson each drove in three runs for the Bobcats, and Brandon Dawson drove in two.
Dawson pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, while striking out six. Walnut Ridge improved to 12-2 with the win.
