Hillcrest boys are county champs
Hillcrest's offense exploded for eight runs in the final two innings, as the Screamin' Eagles rallied to defeat Walnut Ridge 11-7 in the championship game of the 2009 Lawrence County Baseball Tournament Saturday at Strawberry. The loss ended Walnut Ridge's run of 13 consecutive county tournament titles.

Hillcrest got on the scoreboard first, with two runs in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead.
Walnut Ridge's Paul Rainwater tied the game with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. The Bobcats then capitalized on Hillcrest errors to plate two more runs in the inning for a 4-2 lead.
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles claimed their first ever county softball title with an 8-3 victory over defending champion Walnut Ridge in the championship game of the 2009 Lawrence County Softball Tournament on Saturday at Lynn.
Eagles win title
Sloan-Hendrix shut out Salem 11-0 in high school baseball on Tuesday at Salem.
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles defeated Mammoth Spring 13-3 in high school baseball on March 30 at Strawberry.
Bobcats have busy week
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats baseball team was in action last week prior to competing in the county tournament over the weekend.
S-H, WR girls split games
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds and Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats split a high school softball doubleheader on March 30 at Imboden.
BR boys earn win
The Black Rock Zebras pounded Maynard 14-4 in high school baseball action on March 30 at Black Rock.
