The Downtown Walnut Ridge organization will kick off its farmers' market on Saturday.
Even though it is still early in the season, organizers are hoping vendors will bring out canned items, onion sets, plant cuttings, etc.
Downtown Walnut Ridge began hosting a farmers' market last year, and this will be the first full year for the event, which will run through mid-fall.
The market will be open each Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. and will be located next to Wolf's Tae Kwon Do, across from the Lawrence County Courthouse in Walnut Ridge.
Vendors are encouraged to take advantage of the free spaces being offered for the 2009 season. Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Downtown Walnut Ridge board member Cathy Harthorn said the committee felt with this being the first full year, it would be a good idea to offer spaces for free to help get the market established.
Vendors can sell home-grown or home-produced vegetables, fruits, honey, molasses, jams, jellies, pickles, nuts, cut flowers, plants and other such products.
Organizers are hopeful that the market will continue to grow throughout the season.
