Bobcats claim wins

Curtis Jackson's infield hit scored Rob Rainwater with the winning run as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats edged West Side Greers Ferry 6-5 in the Xtra Innings Classic Thursday at Jonesboro.
Walnut Ridge led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Eagles rallied for a pair of runs to send the game into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Rainwater reached base on an error. He took third on a two-base error by the Eagles' third baseman, then scored on Jackson's hit.
Jackson held the Eagles scoreless in the bottom of the eighth to earn the save.
Brandon Dawson started on the mound for Walnut Ridge and pitched three and one-third innings. Paul Rainwater relieved Dawson in the fourth inning and pitched the next three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on two hits to earn his fourth win of the season.
Offensively for Walnut Ridge, William Wilcoxson, Luke Holloway and Dawson each recorded two hits. Wilcoxson and Dawson each scored a pair of runs, while Holloway had two RBIs.
Walnut Ridge improved its 2A-2 conference record to 5-0 with an 11-0 shutout of Cedar Ridge on March 23.
The Bobcats started the rout early, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second. The Cats' final two runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Rob Rainwater batted 2-for-3 with five RBIs. Dawson, Heath Kennedy and William Wilcoxson had two hits apiece for Walnut Ridge.
Wilcoxson started on the mound and pitched a five-inning complete game to earn his second pitching win of the season.
