A special opportunity will be offered here Friday night when Arkansas State University's public radio station, KASU-FM 91.9, presents the Ozark Jazz Orchestra at the Walnut Ridge Community Center Auditorium at 7 p.m. The concert will feature violinist Tim Crouch of Strawberry.
Couch has performed with many major artists and on shows such as David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, CBS Early Morning, The Grand Ole Opry Live and others.
The event kicks off KASU's 2009 Spring Membership Drive, which begins on Saturday.
Shepherd Care, a clothing ministry sponsored by the Lawrence County Ministerial Alliance, needs our support. So far in 2009, 500 clients have been served, representing 1,500 people in the households.

Baseball legend George Kell of Swifton, who has Lawrence County relatives and other ties, died Tuesday. He was a Hall of Fame third baseman who edged Ted Williams for the 1949 American League batting title and then became a Detroit Tigers broadcaster for nearly 40 years. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Swifton United Methodist Church.
