Hoxie teams compete

The Corning Bobcats held Hoxie to just two points in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Mustangs 58-39 in the semifinals of the 3A-3 District Basketball Tournament Friday at Tuckerman.
Morgan Puckett and Beau Sisco each scored 12 points for the Mustangs.
Manila used clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth period, as the Lady Lions slipped past Hoxie 47-46 in the district tournament on Wednesday.
Hoxie held leads of 14-11 after one quarter, 22-20 at halftime and 33-28 after three quarters.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Whitlee Parrish with 12 points, and Kelce Misner with 11.
Tanya Sisco scored 23 points to lead Hoxie over Piggott 71-59 in the first round of the tournament Feb. 16.
Hoxie led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter, 35-29 at halftime and 55-41 after three periods.
Also for the Lady Mustangs, Raven Gates had 12 points, and Kelsey Lewis added 11.
