With the conclusion of the regular season, Lawrence County's senior high basketball teams head into district tournament play this week. Game coverage will appear in next week's edition of The Times Dispatch.
Hoxie's Mustangs and Lady Mustangs are competing in the 3A-3 District Tournament at Tuckerman.
The Lady Mustangs defeated Piggott 71-59 on Monday night and will face Manila tonight at 6 p.m.
The Hoxie boys, co-champions with Earle in the regular season, received a bye into the semifinals. Corning will play the winner of Tuesday's Harrisburg-Brookland game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will face the Mustangs on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats and Lady Bobcats were scheduled to see action on Tuesday night.
If victorious on Tuesday, the Walnut Ridge boys will play Melbourne Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The Walnut Ridge girls were to face Melbourne Tuesday. With a win, the Lady Cats will play Cedar Ridge Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Sloan-Hendrix senior boys were eliminated Monday, falling to Salem 71-56.
The Lady Greyhounds were defeated by Cotter 58-35 on Monday.
The Black Rock Lady Zebras were scheduled to play Armorel on Tuesday. A win would pit the Lady Zebras against Bay on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Black Rock boys also were in action Tuesday. A win would send the Zebras into a Thursday game against Armorel.
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles were to face the host team, Izard County Consolidated on Tuesday. With a win, the Lady Eagles will face Calico Rock on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Hillcrest boys were scheduled to play Calico Rock on Tuesday. With a win, the Screamin' Eagles will play Norfork Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
