Harthorn wins
LawCo. Spelling Bee

Edward Harthorn, a seventh-grade student at Walnut Ridge School, is this year's Lawrence County Spelling Bee winner. He correctly spelled the word "longevity" to claim the win.

Sloan-Hendrix School in Imboden hosted the spelling bee on Thursday.

Jake Bigger, a seventh-grader at Hoxie, was runner-up, and Kelsey Morgan, a sixth-grade student at Black Rock, placed third overall.

Students, parents urged to be proactive about college financing

Guidance counselors at high schools in Lawrence County are doing their best to get the word out about the financial aid resources available to those who want to attend college.
