Senior Mustangs are
county champs

Black Rock's Les Foster considers taking a shot as Mustang defenders Morgan Puckett (#22) and Cade Crisler (#12) move in and fellow Zebra Tadd Fore (#4) looks on. Hoxie won the championship game by a score of 67-59.
The Hoxie Mustangs defeated Black Rock 67-59 in the championship game of the senior boys division of the 2009 Lawrence County Basketball Tournament Saturday night at Lynn.

The Mustangs started strong in the first half, leading 17-12 after one quarter and 38-25 at halftime.

Black Rock climbed back into the contest, outscoring the Mustangs 16-6 in the third quarter to cut Hoxie's lead to 44-41 heading into the final period. Black Rock had closed to within 55-53 when Hoxie's Cade Crisler drained three consecutive three-pointers to dash the Zebras comeback hopes.

Hillcrest girls claim
senior championship

Breanna Doyle scored 26 points to lead the Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles to a 53-35 victory in the senior girls final of the 2009 Lawrence County Basketball Tournament Saturday night at Lynn.

Hoxie boys earn wins

The Hoxie Mustangs swept three games from the visiting Harrisburg Hornets in boys basketball action on Thursday.

sweep ICC teams

The Hillcrest basketball teams swept three games from Izard County Consolidated Feb. 4 at Strawberry.
