Schools reopen after outages

Lawrence County Schools are back in session following the ice storm, which downed power lines and caused a countywide blackout.

All schools were closed Jan. 27 and remained closed for several days.

As power was restored, schools returned to regular sessions. Sloan-Hendrix was the first school to regain power and reopened their campus on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Imboden Area Charter School and Hoxie Public Schools returned to classes on Wednesday and Hillcrest Schools opened on Thursday. Walnut Ridge and Black Rock had their first day back in classes on Friday.

Williams Baptist College was also closed following the power outage and did not reopen until Feb. 3, when power was restored to the campus.
