Hillcrest girls earn winNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles, led by Breanna Doyle's 26 points, earned a 59-50 road victory at Tuckerman on Jan. 6. Hillcrest led 40-24 at halftime. Lauren Pickle finished with five points,10 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Lady Eagles. "Tuckerman has some big, strong post players and Lauren played excellent post defense. She held her ground, blocked out all night long and did it without fouling," said Hillcrest head coach Shawn Rose. Natalie Johnson had 14 points, and Samantha Blevins added nine. "Breanna, Natalie, Tamara Evans and Katelyn Hammock also established good position and denied the passes to the low block," said Rose.
Lindsey Crews scored 17 points and had six steals to lead the Hillcrest junior girls past Tuckerman 31-28. Also for Hillcrest, Mackenzie Nunnally added nine points and had six rebounds. Shea Durham and Sarah Saffell each had five rebounds, while Morgan Penn finished with four steals and four assists.
