BR teams post wins
Staff Writer The Black Rock Zebras senior boys raced to a 14-point first-quarter lead and went on to record their third lopsided victory of the week, 70-36 over Ridgefield Christian Friday at Jonesboro. Black Rock led 40-24 at halftime, and 57-31 after three quarters. The Zebras were led by Jay Nunally with 16 points and Les Foster with 15. Tadd Fore finished with nine points, eight steals and seven assists. Black Rock improved to 5-1 in the 1A-3 East conference and 11-7 overall.
The Black Rock junior boys defeated Ridgefield Christian 49-25 behind a 26-point performance from Tyler Newell. Ridgefield Christian defeated Black Rock 37-21 in the junior high girls game.
Black Rock defeated visiting Twin Rivers 63-35 on Thursday in senior boys action. The game was close in the first half, with the Zebras holding a 26-21 lead at intermission. Black Rock dominated the second half, outscoring the Panthers 37-14 in the final two quarters to coast to the win. Foster and Fore each scored 15 points to lead Black Rock.
Black Rock defeated Twin Rivers 51-33 in the senior girls contest on Thursday at Black Rock. Teri Aden had 18 points, and Ashley Stallings added 16 to lead Black Rock.
Newell scored 28 points to lead the Black Rock junior boys to a 54-42 win over Twin Rivers. CRA The Zebras routed Crowley's Ridge Academy 65-35 in senior boys basketball Jan. 6 at Black Rock. Foster led Black Rock with 16 points. Fore had 11 points, and Garrett Maronde added 10.
Black Rock defeated Crowley's Ridge Academy 46-35 in senior girls basketball Tuesday night at Black Rock. Amy Galbreath and Ashley Stallings each had 11 points to lead the Lady Zebras.
Crowley's Ridge Academy defeated Black Rock 39-11 in the junior girls game on Jan. 6.
