The Black Rock Zebras senior boys raced to a 14-point first-quarter lead and went on to record their third lopsided victory of the week, 70-36 over Ridgefield Christian Friday at Jonesboro.

Black Rock led 40-24 at halftime, and 57-31 after three quarters.

The Zebras were led by Jay Nunally with 16 points and Les Foster with 15. Tadd Fore finished with nine points, eight steals and seven assists.

Black Rock improved to 5-1 in the 1A-3 East conference and 11-7 overall.

named All-NEA

Five Lawrence County basketball players were named to the All-NEA Tournament team for their play in the NEA Basketball Tournament held in December at Jonesboro.

WR teams defeat Salem

Melbourne's Lady Bearkatz outlasted Walnut Ridge to claim a 71-66 overtime victory in senior girls basketball Friday night at Sharum Gymnasium.

Mustangs drop game in Classic

The Corning Bobcats handed the Hoxie Mustangs their second loss of the season, 59-48, in the semifinals of the Kell Classic Saturday at Swifton.

Hillcrest girls earn win

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles, led by Breanna Doyle's 26 points, earned a 59-50 road victory at Tuckerman on Jan. 6.
