WR teams lose
two at Melbourne

The Melbourne Bearkatz defeated Walnut Ridge 59-49 in senior boys basketball Friday night at Melbourne.
Walnut Ridge got off to a fast start, holding a 15-10 advantage after one quarter. Melbourne came back in the second period to cut the Bobcats' lead to 27-26 at halftime. The Bearkatz outscored Walnut Ridge 18-10 in the third quarter to take a 44-37 lead in the final period.
Bennett Dudley led Walnut Ridge with 14 points. Derek Medlock scored 11 points, and Chris Dickson added 10.
Senior girls
Melbourne defeated Walnut Ridge 61-41 in a senior girls contest.
Walnut Ridge led 13-9 after one quarter, but Melbourne rallied in the second period to take a 26-21 lead into halftime. The Lady Bearkatz extended their lead to 41-31 after three quarters.
Lacey Cobble and Alivia Hackworth each scored 12 points to lead Walnut Ridge.
