Mustangs advance in Classic

Hoxie's senior high boys and girls basketball teams opened play in the Kell Classic Saturday at Swifton.

The Hoxie senior boys defeated Izard County Consolidated 58-45 in a first-round contest. The Mustangs were led by Justin Weitkamp with 13 points, and Morgan Puckett with 10.

Senior girls

Bay's Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Lady Mustangs 59-50 in the first round.

Bay led 17-14 at the end of the first quarter, 28-25 at halftime and 44-35 at the end of three quarters.
