'TIS THE SEASON ~ Carolyn Penn of Lynn was among those greeted by Frosty at the Lynn Christmas Parade on Saturday afternoon. Following the parade, children had an opportunity to visit with Santa at the Lynn Fire Station.

Storm's effects could
have been worse

The winter storm that hit Lawrence County on Monday afternoon could have been a lot worse, according to County Judge Alex Latham.

Hoxie Council hears
sanitation proposals

The Hoxie City Council approved the purchase of a new tractor. A Case IH JX70 tractor from Lawrence County Tractor, Inc., bid at $26,933.36, was accepted from among several bids.

WRFD awarded $21,000 grant

The Walnut Ridge City Council held its final meeting of the year on Dec. 9. They discussed the purchase of a car for the police department and the grant they have received for the fire department.

Cummins family to
return to Thailand

Brr! It's especially cold for the Cummins family who are accustomed to a warmer climate in Thailand. The family, which has been on missionary furlough since July, will be returning to Thailand Dec. 30 and will be greatly missed by the citizens of the Walnut Ridge area.
