Staff Writer The Southside Lady Southerners claimed their second consecutive Williams Baptist College Basketball Tournament title with a 57-45 victory over the Pocahontas Lady Redskins Saturday night. London Roberts scored 20 points, and Hailey Mourer added 12 to lead Southside. Hillary Housman led Pocahontas with 13 points.
Southside ~ Tuckerman Southside advanced to the finals with a 63-42 win over Tuckerman in the semifinals on Friday night. Roberts had 26 points for the Lady Southerners.
Pocahontas defeated Marmaduke 58-48 in the other girls semifinal contest. Jordan O'Donnell led Pocahontas with 14 points, and Christie Hibbard added 12. Marmaduke's Chelsea Drope scored 21 points to lead all scorers.
Thursday's action saw two close games played in the girls half of the bracket. Tuckerman's Lady Bulldogs defeated Viola 43-42 to advance to the semifinals. The Pocahontas Lady Redskins advanced with a 42-38 win over Corning.
Hoxie ~ Southside Southside defeated the eighth-seeded Hoxie Lady Mustangs 59-39 in a second-round contest on Dec. 2. Raven Gates and Kelsey Lewis each scored 11 points for the Lady Mustangs. Tanya Sisco had nine points, and Whitlee Parrish added four.
Hillcrest ~ Marmaduke The third-seeded Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds defeated sixth-seeded Hillcrest 73-55 in the second round on Dec. 1. Breanna Doyle scored 20 points, and Amber Glenn added 12 for the Lady Screamin' Eagles. Tamara Evans had seven points, and Stevie Howard, Samantha Blevins and Natalie Johnson each scored four points.
