Caitlin Elizabeth Crabtree

Josh and Jamie Crabtree of Palm Harbor, Fla., have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Nov. 12, 2008. The baby weighed five pounds, nine ounces and has been named Caitlin Elizabeth Crabtree.

Grandparents are Gary and Lynda Crabtree of Conway.

Lorena Hubbard of Saffell and Imogene Sexton of Cave City are the great-grandmothers.

James Bice

James "Jimbo" Bice, 65, of Black Rock, died Dec. 5, 2008, at his home.

A lifetime resident of Lawrence County, he worked for Gibbs Construction and was a member of Imboden Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Willbanks Bice; two sisters; Barbara Bice and Betrice Bice; and three brothers, Glen Bice, Bill Bice and George Bice.

Survivors include his wife, Flora McMahan Bice; a daughter, Ginger Bass and husband Heath, Pocahontas; two sons, James Bice Jr. and wife Alicha, Pocahontas, and Richard Bice, Black Rock; three brothers, Mike Bice, Ravenden, Fred Bice, Imboden, and Juston Bice, Cleburne, Texas; two sisters, Diane Puckett and Debbie Tribble, both of Imboden; and six grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Wayne Herring officiating. Burial was in Markham Cemetery near Egypt.

Pallbearers were Gordon Bice, Jimmy Ingram, Fred Bice, Terry Puckett, Mike Bice, Jud Bice and Richard Bice. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Bice, Jacob Bice, Andrew Bass, Colton Broadwater, Aaron Broadwater and Jonathan Jobe.

Michael Lee Carnahan

Michael Lee Carnahan, 53, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 7, 2008, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 1, 1955, he was employed at Pratt's Auto Salvage in Hoxie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary Carnahan; and two brothers, Timothy Carnahan and Virgil Baker Carnahan.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Crum; two daughters, Jennifer Carnahan, and Misty Crum Aaron and husband Jason; two sons, Michael Crum and wife Yvette, and Mark Crum and wife April; a sister, Nancy Jenkins and husband Steve; and eight grandchildren, Emma Aaron, Haley Carnahan, Christopher Carnahan, Dillon Carnahan, Kyler Crum, Kalee Crum, Whitley Crum and Corey Crum.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Curtis Shatley officiating.

Janice Garcia

Janice Lera Garcia, 83, of Smithville, died Dec. 4, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born March 4, 1925, at Furth, she was the daughter of Columbus Erwin and Chester Mullikin Wynn. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Haxton; and nine siblings.

Survivors include her husband, John Garcia; four sons, Bill Garcia, Fort Walton, Fla., Bob Garcia, Canyonville, Ore., John Garcia Jr., Cleveland, Texas, and David Garcia, Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Elaine Ridenour, Enterprise, Ala.; a sister, Lucille Wirsing, San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Smithville Baptist Church with Bros. Rowdy Morgan, Keith Marlin and Jerry Clements officiating. Burial was in Smithville Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were David Garcia, John Garcia Jr., Joshua Ridenour, Jerry Bice, Michael Bice and Anthony Frisbee.

Robert Girard

Robert Girard, 50, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 6, 2008, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born March 8, 1958, at Walnut Ridge, he was a Vietnam War veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Girard; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Girard, Bastrop, Texas; his mother, Mary Girard, Bastrop, Texas; two sisters, Robin Jacobs, Paragould, and Sandra Smith, Salem; three brothers, Dennis Girard, Ashland, Ky., and Edward Girard and Stanley Girard, both of Bastrop, Texas; and his companion, Janice Dawson, Walnut Ridge.

Arrangements will be announced by Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Barrett Dean Lewis

Barrett Dean Lewis, 33, of Springfield, Mo., husband of Rachel Richey Lewis and son-in-law of John D. Richey, formerly of Lynn, died Nov. 17, 2008, at Cox Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery at Batesville under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home East of Springfield. Memorials may be made to Harding University, Haiti Christian Development Project and Project Hope.

Linda McBride

Linda Mae Hilburn McBride, 75, of St. Louis, formerly of Lawrence County, died Dec. 3, 2008, in St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Mae Ragon.

Survivors include four children, Robert McBride Jr., Loretta McBride Fleming, Charles McBride and Michael McBride all of St. Louis; a sister, Opal Moore, Arkansas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Saturday. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery at St. Louis.

Ruby Alieen Moody

Ruby Alieen Moody, 88, of Pocahontas, died Dec. 4, 2008, at Randolph County Nursing Home.

She lived in Hoxie most of her life before moving to Pocahontas 10 years ago. She was a homemaker and was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herchel Moody; two daughters, Mildred Petro and Lennette Moody; a son, Jerry Moody; her parents, Walter and Nancy Josephine Bales Duncan; and a sister, Rosie Casper.

Survivors include three sons, Gene Moody, Walnut Ridge, Ronnie Moody, Jonesboro, and William Moody, Hoxie; four daughters, Tresia Robbins, Pocahontas, Donnie Hunter, Jonesboro, and Jennette Dorris and Terrie Barnum, both of Corning; three sisters, Beatrice Smith, Swifton, Anita Smith, Cave City, and Gladys Tinker, Hoxie; two brothers, Bobby Duncan, Blytheville, and Benny Duncan, North Carolina; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 1 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Chuck Fitzgerald and Robbie Moore officiating. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery near Portia.

Pallbearers were Jerry Moody Jr., Kurt Smith, Michael Horton, Eddie Girard, Lucas Girard and Bryan Hunter. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Hunter, Aaron Pierce, Scott Moore, Brandon Taylor, Cory Taylor and Kenny Moody.
