for O-D Bowl
Nathan Hibbard
Staff Writer
Derek Johnson, a senior offensive and defensive lineman for the Hoxie Mustangs football team, has been selected to participate in the O-D All-American Bowl, to be played on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The bowl week, sponsored by Offense-Defense Sports, runs from Dec. 28 through Jan. 2.
The game will be broadcast on Fox College Sports at 5 p.m., prior to the telecast of the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2. Last year's head coaches were future NFL Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter and former Miami Dolphins running back Terry Kirby.
"What a great honor for Derek Johnson and our football program. Derek is going to receive free round-trip travel, ocean-front accommodations and free meals and entertainment throughout the week. We are very proud of Derek and all he has accomplished," said Hoxie head coach Tom Sears.
