BR,WR girls split games

The Black Rock Lady Zebras staged a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Walnut Ridge 64-56 in senior girls basketball Nov. 10 at Black Rock.

The Lady Bobcats, playing their season-opener, led 26-25 at halftime and 45-37 after three quarters.

Amy Galbreath led Black Rock with 16 points. Ashely Stallings had 14 points, and Teri Aden added 11.

For Walnut Ridge, Ashley Baker had 26 points and four steals. Alivia Hackworth had 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Chelsey Linebaugh had six points, four steals and three assists, and Carrie Massey grabbed 10 rebounds.

"I was really pleased with how we came out and played in our first game. We just got tired at the end," said Walnut Ridge head coach Jason Ward.

Junior girls

The Walnut Ridge junior high girls defeated Black Rock 44-18.

Walnut Ridge was led by Ashley Roacho with 16 points and six steals. Ashlyn Cothern and Daniel Vaughn each had seven points. Katie Lewis recorded six points and five blocked shots. Audrey McElrath had eight rebounds.

Sarah Penn led Black Rock with seven points.
