Mustangs to host
playoff game Friday
The Hoxie Mustangs will host the Lamar Warriors in the second round of the Class 3A state football playoffs Friday night at Crider Field. Kickoff is at 7:30.
Hoxie finished the regular season at 9-1 and are the co-champions of the 3A-3 conference. The Mustangs, coming off a first-round bye, are making their fifth consecutive playoff appearance.
Lamar finished in a three-way tie with Perryville and Green Forest for first place in the 3A-4 conference. The Warriors enter the game with a 9-1-1 record following last week's 22-14 victory over Camden Harmon Grove in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
"We know Lamar has a very good football team. They seem to be playing with a lot of confidence. We know that we will have to play well to beat them," said Hoxie head coach Tom Sears. "Our kids are excited about the opportunity to play at home. It should be a great ball game."
Admission, as set by the Arkansas Activities Association, is $5 for adults and students. No passes, other than AAA passes, will be permitted.
Other 3A second-round games include Harrisburg at Fountain Lake, Earle at Lavaca, Harding Academy at Prescott, Cedarville at Perryville, Magnet Cove at Charleston, Glen Rose at Mayflower and Mansfield at Atkins.
