HEALTH FAIR HELD ~ Angela Briggs, LPN with the Community Healthcare Center, draws blood from Fred Weeks during the Lawrence County Health Fair held Saturday in Walnut Ridge. Several area health agencies combined efforts to provide approximately 150 cholesterol and glucose screenings, 51 prostate cancer screenings for men, 48 mammogram certificates for women, 50 Tetanus shots, as well as vision and blood pressure checks.

WR hosts

The Downtown Walnut Ridge organization hosted a workshop on Thursday evening focusing on window displays and marketing for downtown businesses.

Susan Shaddox, Main Street Arkansas design consultant, shared tips with business and building owners.

Approximately 25 were in attendance for the workshop, according to Paula Haskins, design committee chair, who said it was an eye-opening experience.

Runoff is Tuesday in Hoxie

Hoxie residents will go to the polls on Tuesday to decide two races for alderman positions.

close for Thanksgiving

Next week's Thanksgiving holiday will affect many schedules in Lawrence County.

Morgan attends event marking
anniversary of Beirut bombing

J.P. Morgan of Walnut Ridge was in Camp LeJune, N.C., Oct. 22-24 for the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Marines' barracks in Beirut. Morgan enlisted in the Marines in 1982 at the age of 17.
