Health fair offers free screenings to LawCo.
The first Lawrence County Health Fair will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the community center in Walnut Ridge. Several area healthcare providers, along with many sponsors and individuals, are joining together to provide Lawrence County area residents with a free and comprehensive health fair and screening.

The Kiwanis Club, various sponsors and several area health agencies, are combining efforts to put on the health fair.
WR to proceed with
The Walnut Ridge City Council met Monday night and agreed to place two three-way stop signs on Southern Avenue, as well as discussing plans for the Christmas Parade and Christmas in the Park. They also voted on end-of-year bonuses for city employees and to move forward on the intermodal facility
The council voted to join Lawrence County, Randolph County and the cities of Corning, Hoxie and Pocahontas as part of the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority and agreed to the terms and conditions of the agreement..
Hoxie garbage pickup adjusted
The Hoxie City Council voted unanimously Monday night to return to twice weekly trash pickup for its residents beginning next week.
Hoxie has previously had trash pickup twice weekly, but in July voted to go to once per week, a change that began in August.
JPs sign on
The Lawrence County Quorum Court, like the cities of Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, voted to move ahead with the proposed Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority.
Justices voted unanimously to appropriate $13,333.33 for the authority and also accepted the organizationsŐ bylaws. It is expected that feasibility studies will begin early next year.
