Early voting turnout heavy

Downtown Walnut Ridge was transformed on Saturday when vendors, entertainers and community groups participated in the annual Iron Mountain Festival. Several thousand attended the event, which, in addition to offering a day full of activities, also resulted in several thousand dollars being raised for local charities and organizations

If early voting is any indication, voter turnout for Tuesday's General Election should be high, according to County Clerk Tina Stowers.
Tuesday afternoon, 991 had already cast early ballots in the county.
"It's really heavy," Stowers said of the turnout. "We're at almost 10 percent of the registered voters, and we've still got nearly a week of early voting to go."

BR Foothills Celebration
begins Friday
The Foothills Celebration at Black Rock is this weekend with activities on Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
A limited number of booths are still available. There is no charge for a booth unless electricity is needed. Organizations and vendors can reserve a booth for the festival by contacting the Black Rock City Hall at 878-6792.

Meeting held regarding
ongoing dispute
Representatives from the Walnut Ridge Country Club, Airport Commission and Walnut Ridge City Council, along with Mayor Michelle Rogers, airport engineer Stacey Morris and attorneys held a three-hour meeting this past Wednesday. They met to try to reach an agreement and thus avoid having a trial, which is set for Nov. 10.
