Mustangs hold on for win

Hoxie's defense denied Piggott on a pair of two-point conversions in the fourth quarter and the Mustangs held on to defeat the Mohawks 13-12 Friday night at Crider Field.

Blaine Middlecoff put Hoxie on the scoreboard first, with a five-yard run in the first quarter. Brad Cook's extra point gave Hoxie a 7-0 lead with 9:09 to play in the opening period.

That score would hold until late in the third period, when Houston Waldrupe gave the Mustangs a 13-0 lead on a five-yard run with 3:10 remaining in the period.

Lady Mustangs sweep Ridgefield Christian

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs swept Ridgefield Christian in senior high volleyball, 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 Thursday at Jonesboro.
