Mustangs record win at Corning

The Hoxie Mustangs used a 20-point outburst at the beginning of the fourth quarter to break open a close game and secure their fifth win of the season, 34-7 over 3A-3 conference opponent Corning on Friday night at Corning.

Leading 14-7 entering the final period, quarterback Clay Hart scored on a four-yard run with 11:19 to play in the game. Brad Cook's extra point gave the Mustangs a 21-7 lead.

On Hoxie's next possession, Houston Waldrupe ran 42 yards for a Mustang touchdown. Cook's PAT gave Hoxie a 28-7 lead with 10:34 to play.

Bobcats suffer tough loss

Marked Tree's Michael Gray scored his fifth touchdown of the evening with just over a minute to play and gave the Indians a 33-28 victory over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in front of a homecoming crowd Friday night at Sexton Field.

Lady Cats beat Hoxie

Walnut Ridge and Hoxie squared off in 3A Northeast conference volleyball action at Walnut Ridge's Sharum Gymnasium on Oct. 7.

Lady Cats earn win

Walnut Ridge hosted Ridgefield Christian in senior high volleyball Oct. 6. The Lady Bobcats swept the Lady Warriors 25-10, 25-6, 25-17.
