HOXIE STUDENTS VOTE IN MOCK ELECTION ~ Ben Dean (left) and Zachary Hurst, fifth graders at Hoxie, mark their ballots during a mock election at the school. Jane Hulett, the fifth grade para-professional, coordinated and sponsored the mock election. In addition to registering to vote, students learned about the voting process from start to finish. They used their lunch cards as IDs to pick up their ballots, made their choices and deposited the ballot in the ballot box and the stub in another box for validation. The mock election, which was for students in fourth through sixth grades, included six poll workers and a poll judge.
