Four join Hillcrest Elem. facultyThe faculty at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn has four new faces for the 2008-09 school year.Ashley Holder of Strawberry is a fifth- and sixth-grade math teacher. She has a master's degree in science and mathematics education from Arkansas State University. A native of Strawberry, she previously taught at Tuckerman High School. She and her husband, Shane Holder, have two children, Ty, 11, and Cassidy, five. LaVonda Huckabee of Poughkeepsie, a native of Evening Shade, teaches fourth grade. She holds a bachelor's degree in education from ASU and has taught at Cord-Charlotte Elementary School in the Cedar Ridge School District. She and her husband, Mike Huckabee, have a son, Dexter, who is a junior at Cave City and plays on the basketball team. Mike, a native of Poughkeepsie, manages the family's six-house poultry farm near Poughkeepsie. Shanna Smith of Strawberry is a third-grade teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Williams Baptist College. A native of Strawberry, she previously taught at Hoxie Elementary School. She and her husband, Josh Smith, have two children, Mickayla, seven, who is in the first grade, and Talmadge, three, who attends preschool. Karen Tidwell of Strawberry teaches third grade. A native of Strawberry, she has a bachelor's degree in business from Henderson State University. She received a non-traditional teaching license in early childhood education through the Arkansas Department of Education. She and her husband, Tommy Tidwell, have two children, Kathryn, 13, who is an eighth-grader at Hillcrest Junior High School, and David Lee, 11, who is a sixth-grader at Hillcrest Elementary.
