Lady Mustangs win Silver

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs competed in the ASU Playday at Jonesboro over the weekend. The Lady Mustangs defeated Doniphan 25-17, 25-6 to claim the championship of the Silver Bracket.
Hoxie opened bracket play by losing to Southland 18-25, 25-12, 10-15, sending them to the consolation bracket. The Lady Mustangs rebounded to beat Cedar Ridge 25-14, 25-8 to advance to the finals.
Hoxie began the tournament by losing to Holcomb 16-25, 25-27 in the first match of pool play. In the second match in pool play, Hoxie defeated Doniphan 25-17, 25-6. Greene County Tech defeated the Lady Mustangs 25-8, 25-11 to conclude pool play.
For the tournament, Chasity Becker was 31-of-32 from the line, with nine aces, 19 kills and 21 assists. Courtney Jones was 22-of-26 from the line, with 10 aces, 13 digs, 13 kills and six blocks. Shayla Coats was 28-of-31 from the line, with six aces and 10 digs.
Erika Manis was 22-of-24 serving, with 11 aces and 14 digs. Kelsey Lewis went 18-of-18 serving, with 21 kills and three blocks. Brianna Liscomb had 14 kills, and Amanda Whaley had 31 assists.
The Hoxie junior and senior high volleyball teams claimed road wins at Bay on Sept. 22.
The Hoxie senior high defeated Bay 25-20, 25-9, 25-7.
Becker had eight kills and eight assists. Jones had six kills and two blocks. Erika Manis was 8-of-8 from the line and had two digs. Lewis was 15-of-15 from the line, with two aces, five kills and two blocks. Kassie Teel and Liscomb each had two kill and Whaley had eight assists.
The junior Lady Mustangs won 25-13, 25-16.
Hali Pratt was 7-of-8 from the line, with an ace and two kills. Sarah Manis was 16-of-16 from the line, with two kills and two assists. Maddison Woodard had two digs and a kill. Alyssa Coggins was 7-of-7 serving, with three digs and three kills, and Emily Freer had four digs.
