WR golfers claim district title

The Walnut Ridge High School golf team outlasted East Poinsett County and Ridgefield Christian to win the 2A-3 North District Golf Tournament at Thunder Bayou Golf Links near Blytheville on Sept. 11.

Walnut Ridge shot a team score of 252 to finish one shot ahead of EPC in the play four-count three tournament. Ridgefield Christian was third with a score of 256.

Individually, John-Scott Kelley finished second overall with a score of 75. Matt Ryan shot an 82 and Wesley Davis shot a 95.

All three teams advanced to the Region 2 tournament, which was scheduled for Tuesday at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne.
