Mustangs claim third road victory
The game was a defensive struggle for most of the first half, with the evening's first points coming on a 55-yard run by Hoxie quarterback Clay Hart with 2:19 left in the first half. Brad Cook's PAT gave the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.
The Rebels retaliated quickly, scoring on a 10-yard pass with just 13 seconds left in the quarter to earn a 7-7 tie at halftime.
Blaine Middlecoff put the Mustangs back in the lead with a 10-yard run early in the third quarter. Cook added the PAT to give Hoxie a 14-7 advantage.
WR golfers claim district titleThe Walnut Ridge High School golf team outlasted East Poinsett County and Ridgefield Christian to win the 2A-3 North District Golf Tournament at Thunder Bayou Golf Links near Blytheville on Sept. 11.
Cats suffer first loss at Cross CountyCross County was able to take advantage of some crucial Walnut Ridge mistakes and handed the Bobcats a 48-32 defeat, their first of the season, in senior high football on Friday at Cherry Valley.

The Hoxie junior high volleyball team competed in the Junior Blazer Blast at Valley View over the weekend.
